EB-5 Program Extended Six Months Without Reform

Despite tweeting that he might veto the Omnibus, President Trump signed the spending bill on Friday, March 23rd. The spending bill included an EB-5 Program extension for six months.

KAPIN PLLC EB-5 immigration attorneysThe spending bill extends the EB-5 Regional Center Program until September 30th, 2018, without any reforms.

The EB-5 Program allows foreign entrepreneurs to invest $1 million, or in many cases, $500,000 into job-creating enterprises in exchange for green cards for their families.

While no reforms have been passed, USCIS could still release regulations that change the EB-5 Program. These could include changes to the minimum investment amount and changes to targeted employment areas. Therefore, potential investors may still benefit from filing their petitions early before these changes occur, which could happen at any moment.
